What to Expect During the Protest + March

The demonstration begins at Mission Avenue and San Diego Street in Oceanside, CA. Participants are welcome to arrive throughout the evening and gather along the four corners while remaining on the sidewalks.

At 6:30 PM, we will march together towards the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheater, led by Calpulli Omeyocan (Danza), accompanied by Banda La Exclusiva and Danza de los Diablos Raíces Mixtecas. Once we arrive, the evening will continue with a community program featuring local organizations, community demands, and opportunities for collective action.

The program is expected to conclude around 8:00 PM.

March Route: The community march is approximately 1.2 miles and takes about 30 minutes to complete. The route begins at Mission Avenue & San Diego Street and continues to the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheater.

Route Note: Due to ongoing construction, participants will use the south sidewalk along Mission Avenue while traveling toward the amphitheater.

Participating in the Protest + March

We encourage everyone to remain on the sidewalks throughout the demonstration and to follow all traffic laws and traffic signals. Volunteers wearing safety vests will be available throughout the event, and we encourage participants to follow their guidance to help keep everyone safe.

Whenever possible, we encourage everyone to remain together during the community march. Together, we can help create a welcoming environment for everyone.

The march will take place along public sidewalks from Mission Avenue and San Diego Street to the Jr. Seau Pier Amphitheater. Participants are welcome to join at the starting location, meet the group at the amphitheater, or join along the route when safe to do so. We welcome wheelchair users and participants with different mobility needs. Please be aware that ongoing construction may affect sidewalk accessibility along the route.

Photographs and videos may be taken throughout the event for community documentation and media purposes. If you have questions, accessibility concerns, or need assistance, please speak with a volunteer wearing a safety vest.

Families, youth, elders, and community members of all backgrounds are welcome.

We encourage everyone to stay focused on why we're gathering. Our purpose is to stand with our communities rather than engage with counterprotesters or agitators.

Participating by Vehicle

If you are unable to participate on foot, joining by vehicle is another way to show support.

We encourage everyone driving to:

  • Follow all traffic laws and signals.

  • Yield to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.

  • Avoid blocking intersections or driveways.

  • Display signs or flags in ways that do not obstruct visibility.

  • Follow guidance from volunteers or public safety officials related to traffic flow.

Preparing for the Protest + March

We encourage participants to bring:

  • Water

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Comfortable, weather appropriate clothing

  • A light jacket or layers for cooler evening temperatures

  • A flashlight or small light for visibility

  • Signs, banners, or other creative ways to share your message

  • Face covering

  • Portable phone charger

  • Any medications you may need

Community Care

Available throughout the event:

  • Water and basic supplies

  • Spanish interpretation will be available during the community program

  • A community care station with basic first aid supplies and Know Your Rights materials

  • A space to pause, rest, and reconnect if you need a moment during the event

This demonstration may bring up strong emotions. We recognize that Black, Indigenous, and other communities directly impacted by policing, detention, deportation, and family separation may be carrying additional weight throughout the day. We encourage everyone to ground themselves in ways that feel supportive, while centering and following the leadership of those most directly impacted. If you need a moment, step away, get water, reconnect with your body, mind, spirit, or heart, and rejoin when you feel ready.

We also invite everyone to remember that the land holding this gathering is alive and holds each of us, along with everything each of us may be carrying that day. If it feels meaningful to you, consider taking a moment to connect with the land in your own way, whether through a prayer, chant, song, dance, silence, tears, gratitude, a smile, or simply being present. As part of caring for the land that is holding us, we invite everyone to leave the space with care by picking up after themselves and honoring the places where we gather.

Know Your Rights

If you interact with law enforcement during the demonstration, remain calm and avoid escalating the situation.

You have the right to remain silent and to ask whether you are free to leave.

If you choose to document the event, please be mindful of the privacy and safety of those around you.

Additional Know Your Rights materials will also be available at the Community Care Station.

End the Surge

We condemn the recent surge in immigration enforcement and the ongoing detention, deportation, and violence inflicted on our communities.

We call on students, organizations, and communities across North County and beyond to stand in solidarity, organize collectively, and defend one another.

Points of Unity

  1. Abolish ICE and Border Patrol. We demand migra free communities and an end to immigration enforcement, detention, and deportation.

  2. Self Determination and Collective Power. We fight for the self determination of oppressed peoples and future generations. We build community power to defend one another and determine our collective futures.

  3. Defend Our Students, Families, and Communities. We stand with students organizing walkouts and communities resisting immigration enforcement. We defend the right to organize, resist, and live without fear.

  4. Fund Our Communities, Not War or Repression. We demand resources for public education, housing, healthcare, and community needs. No money for detention, policing, militarization, war, fascism, or genocide.

  5. Indigenous Sovereignty and Freedom of Movement. This land belongs to Indigenous peoples. We affirm Indigenous sovereignty, ancestral relationships to land, and the freedom to move, live, and remain with dignity. Migration is sacred!

  6. End U.S. Intervention. We demand an end to U.S. intervention in Nuestra América, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

  7. Close Concentration Camps and Prisons. We demand the closure of all concentration camps, including immigration detention facilities and prisons.
